Wrestling Recap – 11/9/16

Glasgow, Scotland hosted both RAW and SD Live..they were live shows at the time of recording however, we weren’t supposed to know that.

The Glasgow crowd controlled the atmosphere for most of the night.  There were a few matches, the Cruiserweight tag match featuring Brian Kendrick and Rick Swan, a six-women tag match, a match to decide who will represent RAW for the Intercontinental title, a tag match with the current world tag-team champions, and a fatal five-way match.  The night was mostly a push to promote the upcoming Survivor Series pay-per-view.

The Glasgow crowd was much kinder.  The five-man Survivor Series team were ringside listening to their captain pontificate his hatred for the one with no chin.  There were a few matches, one involved the return of our favorite luchador, the women’s championship main event (that didn’t close the show), and a six-man tag match.  The Intercontinental title will be on the line next week.  One of the five-men slated to fight Raw was injured resulting in the SD Live manager adding our favorite commissioner to the team.

Another pre-recorded event concluded the semi-final round of the Dusty Rhodes Classic.  Authors of Pain defeated DIY with the help of Revival to advance to the finals.  William Regal decreed that Revival will defend the NXT tag titles against DIY at Takeover Toronto.  Ember Moon got a decisive win over Rachel Evers.  TM61 defeated SanitY to advance to the finals.  The NXT championship contract signing between Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura resulted in Nakamura putting someone through a table.

Not a bad week of pay-per-view promotions.  I felt it was a little early for so much focus on Survivor Series but in retrospect, WWE needs to improve ratings and boost WWE Network subscriptions.  We’ll see whether the brands can take their shows to another level next week.
